NOVI, Mich. – Officials have revealed information about a plane that crashed in Oakland County over the weekend.

When and where

Police said the plane crash happened at 6:41 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Officers were called to Cambridge Drive, north of 8 Mile Road, in Novi. That’s where they found the aircraft.

What happened

Police said this was a small antique military plane, and they believe it was trying to make an emergency landing.

The crash didn’t cause a fire, officials said.

Traffic on 8 Mile Road was not interrupted.

Injuries

The 71-year-old Northville man flying the plane was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Livonia. His injuries are considered minor.

Nobody else was aboard the plane, and there were no injuries on the ground, police said.

The Federal Aviation Administration is handling the investigation of the crash.
