It’s something we’ve heard for generations, but do you know why spay or neutering your pets continues to be mentioned? Gillian Hanton from Michigan Humane stopped by “Live in the D” to share some awareness about the procedure.
She said having your pet spayed or neutered helps prevent your pet from potential diseases from urinary infections to cancer. “It also helps minimize the number of pets we have in shelters,” said Hanton. She said shelters all over the country are over run by animals who need care and spaying and neutering can help control the pet population.
Speaking of shelters, there are several animals seeking adoption including one Hanton brought on the show with her.
