‘Elderly’ driver crashes car into Ann Arbor grocery store

Crash caused minor damage, injuries

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A woman crashed her vehicle into a grocery store in Ann Arbor on Wednesday, causing minor damage to the building’s facade.

At around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, a woman crashed a Volkswagen Beetle into the Arbor Farms Market located on West Stadium Boulevard, near Liberty Road, on the city’s west side. The vehicle wound up wedged between a pillar and the store’s front windows.

The crash caused damage to the building’s brick facade, though the actual building and its windows were not damaged, the Ann Arbor Fire Department said. The vehicle sustained some damage, as well.

The woman driving the car reportedly had a scratch on her knee, but did not want to be taken to the hospital. Officials only identified her as an “elderly” woman.

She was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Authorities did not say what actually caused the crash.

No other information was available as of this writing.
