MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – Looking for something fun to do with the whole family this summer? Michigan Transit Museum is offering train rides in Clinton Township and Mount Clemens as the museum turns 40 this year.
Take a nostalgic trip on a 1930's passenger car pulled by a real diesel locomotive, according to the museum.
Riders can purchase their tickets in a real caboose, then board the passenger car for a 40 minute ride through Mt. Clemens, Clinton and Harrison Township.
The museum said the train no longer goes to Selfridge for security reasons, but its volunteer staff will make sure passengers have a great train ride.
The train departs from Joy Park at 1, 2, 3 and 4 pm Sundays only through October. Joy Park is located on the north side of Joy Boulevard, a half mile east of Gratiot, 1 mile north of downtown Mount Clemens.
The cost of the trip is $7 for adults and $4 for kids 4 to 12. The museum says those 3 and under ride free.
The 1859 Mount Clemens Depot Museum is also open on the weekends from 1 pm to 4 pm. Michigan Transit Museum said there is free admission to the museum, which is a separate location from the train loading site.
