Search for lost class ring's owner

“On the outside, it says Belleville High School. It says Tigers on one side, female track 1984 on the other. On the inside, it’s engraved with the name, Filicia Crawford,” Ronald Halladay said.

Ronald Halladay knows this ring inside and out. He and his father-in-law found it back in 2005.

“We lived up in Houghton Lake in 2004,” Halladay said. “My father in law came up to go metal detecting with me. So, we went to Houghton lake. When he was in the lake, he found a class ring.”

What they found was the ring Halladay described. The family tried to find its owner. They searched on Google. They searched on Facebook, but could never seem to find Filicia.

Now Ronald’s daughter is a senior in high school and it got him thinking about that ring he found 11 years ago.

“I think it would be good for her to have a piece of her past back,” he said.

So he called Local 4.

Local 4 started by going to Belleville High School and found Filicia in old year books, then got an address and left a note on the door.

The Filicia Crawford called Local 4.

“I didn’t think I’d ever see it again,” Crawford said.

She told us, she lost the ring the very year she bought it, 1984. She doesn’t remember where or when.

“The only time I was on a lake, I went with a friend and her boyfriend and we went on a boat,” she said. “I don’t remember losing my ring then, but I guess I could have.”

Crawford could still remember the details of the ring, down to the color of the center stone. She can’t wait to get it back and says she really appreciates the Halladay family for their efforts.

“I see stuff like this on the news, I never thought it would happen to me,” she said.
