Arts

More than 100 artists will have their work displayed at the 19th annual Ford Arts, Beats & Eats festival.

Fine art in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, digital art, drawing, fabric/fiber/leather, glass, graphics/printmaking, jewelry, metal, mixed media 2D, mixed media 3D, painting, photography, sculpture, and wood will be on display at the Juried Fine Art Show.

“There will be a lot of loyal, returning artists this year showcasing their work. We also are welcoming many new artists, many of whom will be displaying mix media 3D artwork which will enhance the show’s variety,” art director Lisa Konikow said. “I am impressed by the quality, breadth and scope of this year’s artists. The show’s ability to evolve and thrive on its own against intense music and delicious eats is what sets us apart from other art shows.”

Cash awards totaling up to $7,500 will be given out.
In addition, the Detroit Institute of Arts will be the presenting sponsor of onstage art demonstrations each day of the festical.

Also, St. John Hospital & Medical Center is sponsoring the 6th annual Deaf Arts Festival featuring the work of a number of outstanding artists who are deaf and hard of hearing.
