DETROIT – Watch Dr. Frank McGeorge tell the story of a groundbreaking heart procedure at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit many didn't think would work.Â
Cardiologist Adam Greenbaum, MD, co-director of the Center for Structural Heart Disease at Henry Ford Hospital’s Heart & Vascular Institute developed the new way for doctors to access the heart to perform life-saving procedures, and potentially more.
McGeorge explains the new procedure in detail, and Greenbaum shares how it found success.Â
"When we first did this procedure in July 2013 and word got out that we had accomplished this, people would not believe," Greenbaum said.Â
Now, 100 successful procedures later, once skeptical cardiologists are accepting the breakthrough.Â
