DEARBORN, Mich. – Two children were shot Wednesday morning at a home where several children were being cared for in Dearborn, according to police.
The shooting happened in the 3000 block of Harding Street.

Police said a toddler was playing with a firearm and shot the two victims. The victims are both 3 years old and are listed in critical condition, but stable condition.
“They’re both shot, they’re both young and they’re both critical,” Chief Ronald Haddad said.
Police said there were several children and at least one adult was in the home at the time of the shooting.
“Obviously there were weapons in close proximity of where kids were and it’s totally unacceptable,” Haddad said.
Other children could be seen leaving the home.
One of the victims was taken to Beaumont Oakwood Hospital and the other was airlifted to Children's Hospital. A source said one of the victims, a 3-year-old boy, was shot through the shoulder and is in stable condition.
Dearborn police are investigating.

Neighbors say there are five or six children regularly in the yard. Carol Rittenbarry said she has been concerned for the children's care and has complained to the city.
Haddad said the home is known for babysitting, but he would not say if it is a licensed daycare.
