LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Court of Appeals again has put the brakes on a case that threatened to derail or delay a deal reached between the city of Detroit and a state-appointed financial review team.
The appeals court on Thursday ordered an Ingham County judge to take no further action in the case. Circuit Court Judge William Collette had scheduled a hearing next week in his Mason courtroom to explore whether the state review team reached the deal in compliance with the state's Open Meetings Act.

Similar cases had been filed earlier by union activists wary of state involvement in Detroit finances. The cases are now consolidated.
Detroit and the state review team approved a deal Wednesday that avoids the appointment of an emergency manager for the city.
