Alleged SW Detroit serial rapist arrested, charged

Police believe 31-year-old Dearborn man is responsible for multiple attacks on women

DETROIT – A man accused of attacking several women in southwest Detroit has been arrested.

Detroit police believe the 31-year-old man is a serial rapist who has assaulted several women over the past four months.

Ali Nasser Alriashi, of Dearborn, was stopped by police Monday night. Police had been staking out the area of Livernois and Fort in search of someone who matches Alriashi's description. Police say a woman told officers Alriashi raped her.

"He would come to the area, force women into the vehicle and sexually assault them," said Sgt. Marvin Jones, of the Detroit Police Sex Crimes Unit.

Alriashi was driving a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer at the time of his arrest by undercover officers. Police impounded the vehicle. They say he was armed at the time of the arrest, too.

Police say all victims described a Middle Eastern man driving a Mercury Mountaineer.

Alriashi is charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct, felonious assault and criminal sexual conduct 3rd degree.

He was arraigned Tuesday and received a $250,000 (10 percent) bond.
