LIVONIA, Mich. – Online retail giant Amazon is planning to open a product fulfillment center in Livonia, according to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
According to the MEDC, Amazon is investing nearly $90 million in a high-volume product fulfillment center in October 2017, which will created 1,000 jobs in southeast Michigan. The update came as the Michigan Strategic Fund approved a $7.5 million grant for Amazon.

“We are thrilled to have Amazon choose Livonia for its biggest presence yet in Michigan,” Livonia Mayor Dennis K. Wright said.
The project has been a collaborative effort between the MEDC and local partners, including DTE Energy, City of Livonia and Wayne County.
"We’re proud to welcome Amazon to Livonia and applaud the collaboration that took place to bring this significant capital investment and new, well-paying jobs to our community,” Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans said. “Time is everything in today’s global market, and Wayne County was glad to do our part to ensure Amazon has the public infrastructure it needs to support its e-commerce operations.”
A second fulfillment center is expected to be built in Aurora, Illinois.
