DETROIT – Aretha Franklin is getting R-E-S-P-E-C-T from the City of Detroit in the form of a street named in her honor.
Aretha Franklin Way is the new official name for a section of Madison between Brush and Witherell in Detroit. The Queen of Soul was there for the unveiling and teared up as the crowd cheered.
Friday she'll kick off Detroit Music Weekend by performing at a tribute show in her honor.
