Boyfriend in custody after 17-year-old girl shot in head at Chesterfield Township home

Marche Lowe in critical condition

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The 20-year-old boyfriend of a 17-year-old girl who was shot Monday night is in custody, Chesterfield Township police said.

The man is being held at the Chesterfield Township Police Department. Marche Lowe was shot in the head Monday inside her home in Chesterfield Township.

Originally, police said Lowe's boyfriend told investigators someone went to the home and shot his girlfriend. He also told investigators the shooter was driving a silver Toyota, police said.

However, police were not believing his story. They believed the man might be responsible for his girlfriend's shooting. Lowe's friends said it was a volatile relationship with physical violence and arguing. A motive for the shooting is unclear at this point.

Lowe remains in critical condition. Her boyfriend is now considered the prime suspect in her shooting. Police said they are not searching for any other suspects in this shooting. Lowe's boyfriend is the only suspect in this shooting.

Police did not recover a gun from the home. They had been holding Lowe's boyfriend because they did find credit card skimming equipment.

Neighbors in the subdivision said they didn't hear a car speeding away, and they said there was no ruckus until police arrived.

"This is just a shock," said a neighbor who didn't want to be identified. "She was a good kid, and I never would imagine this would happen to her."
