DETROIT – A burned body was found early Wednesday morning on Detroit’s east side.
The body was discovered around 5:30 a.m. on the side of a burning house on Alma Avenue south of 7 Mile Road. The fire department found it while responding to the house fire.
According to police, the body was burned so badly that they were unable to identify it as male or female. It was face-down and the hands and feet were bound.
"We don't know if this is the original crime scene or if this is the location they decided to bring the victim after everything was finished,” said Detroit police Cmdr. Charles Mahone.
Investigators spent five hours Wednesday morning at the scene. They checked the basement of the house the body was found next to as they searched for evidence.
Detectives are lacking witnesses, as only one house on the block isn’t vacant.
Nathaniel Temple said he may have saw something, as he saw man in a truck drive down the street and park. He said the area is bad and he’s about to move.
Police are asking for tips that could be related to the crime.
"Even if you don't think it's connected, please let us know,” Mahone said.
