DETROIT – Temperatures hit 69 degrees in Detroit on Saturday, smashing the record temp of 62 degrees in 1976.
And the good news? Spectacular weather is here in Detroit all Presidents' Day Weekend and into next week.
Saturday afternoon nearly broke 70 degrees, and we'll only fall into the 50s this evening, with lows in the 30s overnight with mostly clear skies. Not bad for mid-February!
The Detroit Zoo said it had a record-breaking day for a Saturday in February with 14,370 visitors. Zoo officials added that traffic was heavy and gates were closed intermittently in the early afternoon.
Sunday will be mostly to partly sunny. The record high of 64 degrees from 1884 is safe. It will be cooler but remain mild. Highs will be in the middle 50s.
Presidents' Day will be nearly perfect. Skies will be favorable with daytime temps in the low 50s.
Tuesday has a chance of showers with afternoon temps back above average in the low 50s. Wednesday and Thursday keep the mild trend going with partly sunny skies and highs in the low 50s.
