ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A 12-year-old girl has died after being struck by a car, Roseville police said.
The incident happened at 8:50 p.m. Friday on Gratiot Avenue between Eastgate Boulevard and Glendale Street.
Police said three people were walking across the northbound lanes of Gratiot Avenue when a 12-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle. The other two pedestrians were not struck.
The girl was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Roseville police said the girl is a resident of Detroit.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and was cooperating with the investigation. Police said there was no indication that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The northbound lanes of Gratiot Avenue north of Frazho Road and just south of I-696 were shut down as authorities investigated.
