The store at 1261 Woodward Avenue is set to open in the spring.
Gilbert said the two-level store will be 22,000-square feet.
"We look forward to bringing Nike's performance products and experiences to downtown Detroit with our sixth Community Store, scheduled to open in 2016," said Nike spokeswoman Lisa Beachy in an emailed statement. "Through job creation and volunteer efforts, we hope to both positively impact the Detroit community and the local economy."
Gilbert owns Bedrock Real Estate Services, which runs the storefront.
