DEARBORN, Mich. – Dearborn police announced Friday that they have arrested three people involved in threats and harassment while dressed as "scary clowns" this week.
Police said the arrests stem from two different incidents, which are both under investigation. Formal charges are pending.

Dearborn police said that they have investigated several other "scary clown" sightings, but none of the complaints have been deemed legitimate.
"These incidents create unnecessary hysteria within our community, and threats will not be tolerated," Dearborn police Chief Ronald Haddad said. "The Dearborn Police Department will pursue charges against any individual that deliberately commits an act that is designed to create fear or panic among our citizens."
Police ask residents to continue reporting any concerns of clown-related crime.
