According to authorities, employees at the Home Depot on Middlebelt Road had unearthed evidence of stolen merchandise tied to Griffin, an associate at the store.

Griffin is suspected of taking items from the store for the last five months by taking several smaller items and placing them inside of a larger item that he would purchase.

After reviewing security footage, police say Griffin would purchase garbage cans with seals that appeared tampered with. Further investigation into the footage found Griffin removing tools from the items purchased, according to police.

Police believe that approximately $60,000 worth of merchandise had been taken since June.

Griffin's probable cause conference and preliminary examination will be held on Nov. 30.
