Detroit police make progress in Grosse Pointe Farms teen's shooting death

DETROIT – Since the night of Dec. 22, 2014, when a car full of teenagers was attacked by an AK-toting man on Phillip near Charlevoix, Detroit police have been working on piecing together why it happened.

Why in the world would a car full of kids doing nothing but smoking weed have 30 rounds fired at them?

Paige Stalker, a standout high school student from Grosse Pointe Farms, did not survive the attack. Three others in the car were seriously injured.

"I think we have a good timeline, good chain of events from all the people involved," said Cpt. Erik Decker, with Detroit police.

Police won't detail what they've got cooking but sources tell Local 4 they have developed two pieces of information that are promising. They're also asking for more tips from the public. Remember: There is $100,000 ready for the person who gives a tip which leads to an arrest and conviction.

Local 4 is told the Detroit Police Department is moving away from the robbery angle. Captain Decker only will say they're looking at multiple possibilities.

"There's other avenues. Tips have come in. There's different avenues and we're investigating them all," he said.
