DEARBORN, Mich. – Police say a man wanted for murder in Detroit was shot and killed by officers Friday at a dry cleaners in Dearborn.
Police say the man, who was about 50 years old, beat a woman to death with a hammer earlier Friday at a home on St. Lawrence Street. The man's daughter told police her father did it.

Detroit police officers trailed the man to Macy's Cleaners at 5320 Schaefer Road in Dearborn. Police say he pulled a gun on officers, who then shot and killed him inside the business.
The man is a former employee at the cleaners. An employee said he went for a gun, ran to the back of the cleaners and was shot dead by police officers.
Hebah Faraj was working the front register Friday afternoon.
"I've never witnessed anything like this," she said.
Faraj said the man was known as Sam. He showed up at his former place of work about 2:15 p.m. Friday. Soon after that, a Detroit police officer walked in carrying a photo of the same man.
Faraj said the officer approached the man, who appeared to go for a gun.
"They tried to grab him and he put his hand on his gun. They were screaming, 'He's got a gun! He's got a gun! Put your gun down! Put your gun down!'" said Faraj.
The man ran to the back of the cleaners where at least two shots were fired.
"The assailant withdrew a weapon. A small foot chase and the assailant was shot dead," said Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad.
Detroit police were first called about the deadly beating about 1 p.m. They went to the home on St. Lawrence Street where they were told the man could be found at Macy's Cleaners.
"We had a very good idea. We had a tip that he would be coming to this location," said Detroit Police Asst. Chief Steve Dolunt.
