Driver suffers heart attack causing 3-car crash on Detroit's west side; pedestrian injured

DETROIT – A driver died Thursday afternoon when he had a heart attack behind the wheel, causing a three-car crash and injuring a pedestrian on Detroit's west side.

The crash happened at the corner of West McNichols Road and Oakfield Avenue.

Police said a man driving a red pickup truck had a heart attack behind the wheel and crashed into an SUV and a sedan. The vehicles jumped the curb and a pedestrian was hit.

According to police, the driver of the truck was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV is in temporary serious condition. The sedan was parked and unattended.

The pedestrian is listed in serious condition.
