Elderly Detroit woman robbed 3 years in a row

DETROIT – Evadney Clark has taken every precaution to protect herself and the home she's worked a lifetime for, but she still can't keep the burglars out.

"They take the facing off the door, the window," Clark said. "They took the locks. I had two locks on here like this and they dig it off, they dig this off!"

Clark's jewelry was taken in May, and she's been hit every year for the past three years.

"Yes, they did it last February," she said. "There was snow out there."

Clark was at church in February of 2014 when burglars got through the bars and alarm system of the same back window.

Before that, she was hit in 2013 from the same secured window. Her house has been ransacked three years in a row.

"'13, '14, '15, I'm waiting for '16 now," Clark said. "I will hang around for '16, see what happens for '16."

She moved to Detroit from Jamaica in 1968, working her fingers to the bone as a housekeeper. She put her son through college, he's now a chemical engineer.

"I mean, '13, '14, '15, and when you call the police you got to go to the police station," she said. "No fingerprint, no investigation, it's nothing. I'm here suffering. I go to bed at night, I don't sleep sound. I sleep, I'm watching out."

Clark takes care of her property, watching out for her neighbors and refusing to leave what she's worked for.

"If they come in when I'm here, they're not going out," she said.
