Election 2016: When, where and how to vote in Michigan

Election Day in America is Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016.

When to vote:

Polls in Michigan are open 7 AM–8 PM. You’re allowed to vote if you’re in line by 8 PM.

Where to vote:

Find your polling place by using the Michigan Voter Information Center.

How to vote:

Be sure to bring one of the following forms of ID in order to vote:

  • State ID card
  • Michigan driver’s license
  • Another generally recognized picture ID card
  • If you don't have a picture ID card, you may sign a sworn statement to that effect

Additionally, if you are a first time Michigan voter and registered to vote by mail, you may be required to show your Michigan ID, utility bill, or government document that shows your name and current address.
