The convention is being held at the Quicken Loans Arena, hosting approximately 2,470 delegates and 2,302 alternate delegates who officially nominated Donald Trump as the party's candidate for president on Tuesday.
The theme of this year's convention is "Make America Great Again." The focus is expected to be on national security, immigration, trade and jobs.
The Buckeye State played host to the convention in 1876, 1924 and 1936.
Spotlights on Donald Trump
After months of anticipation, Donald Trump will be accepting his Republican nomination tonight at the Quicken Loans Arena after an introduction by his daughter, Ivanka.
Anticipation rises as thousands gather in Cleveland for Trump's long awaited speech.
Revolving door of high-energy moments
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz stunned the crowds Wednesday when he took the stage and didn’t endorse the Republican presidential nominee as he had pledged at the first Republican debate.
The talk of the convention last night was Cruz, but tonight, the stage belongs to Trump as he officially accepts the Republican nomination.
Trump steals show from Cruz
Sen. Ted Cruz took the stage Wednesday night, and despite declining to endorse Donald Trump, or even mention him by name, he backed Trump’s plan to reform immigration and build a wall.
The crowds turned to heckling and booing as it became clear Cruz was not going to give his full support.
Republican Vice Presidential pick Mike Pence spoke to Republicans, giving the party a first look at the potential VP.
Wednesday’s theme was “Make America First Again.”
Anticipation rises for Pence speech
Donald Trump’s Vice Presidential pick Gov. Mike Pence will speak at the convention Wednesday night and anticipation is on rise.
Michigan Republicans say he is a strong example of Midwestern conservative values.
“He’s got economic conservative credentials and social conservative credentials,” Detroit News editorial page director Nolan Finley said. “The base loves him. He’s as solid as they come in terms of experience. He’s been in congress. He has good marks as governor.”
Trump speechwriter takes blame
A Trump staffer identified herself on Wednesday as the person responsible for plagiarism in Melania Trump’s convention speech continuing the casting shadow over the GOP convention.
Meredith McIver apologized in a statement and said Donald and Melania Trump did not accept her resignation.
The statement comes more than 36 hours after the striking similarities were uncovered between Melania’s speech and First Lady Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech.
Donald Trump Wins Republican Nomination
Donald Trump’s home state of New York put him over the top to reach the magic number of delegates to secure the GOP nomination.
He made a brief appearance on the big screen to show his appreciation for the party’s nomination.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Dr. Ben Carson took the stage blasting Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
Tuesday’s theme was “Make America Work Again.”
Michigan helps keep convention safe
Troopers from the Michigan State Police joined officers in Cleveland to help keep the peace during the convention.
More than 100 Michigan State Police troopers were sworn in as Cleveland Police officers.
"We've been welcomed with open arms here in the city of Cleveland," Insp. James G. Shaw said. "Things have been going well. There's been several marches and they've all been peaceful."
Michigan delegates react to speech flap
Melania Trump's speech was quickly criticized for passages that were strikingly similar to First Lady Michelle Obama's 2008 convention speech.
Michigan delegates said the focus should be on uniting the Republican party and that there are far more important issues on the table.
"I don't care about that speech," Michigan delegate Wendy Day said. "We have people being killed. We have police officers being killed. Terrorism is on the rise. We've got so many more important things to be talking about right now in our world. Our world is struggling."
Trump's campaign chairman denied accusations of plagiarism, saying Melania Trump used "common words."
Trump sets the stage Monday night
The potential nominee doesn't usually take the stage until they've been offered the nomination, but this election cycle is unlike any before it.
Melinia Trump headlined the first night of the convention and Donald Trump introduced her to the crowd.
“Donald is, and always has been, an amazing leader,” Melinia Trump said. “Now he will go and work for you.”
Monday’s theme was “Make America Safe Again.”
Convention kicks off
As the convention kicked off Monday, delegates from the “never Trump” movement began calling for a roll call vote leading to a shouting match.
Party leadership blocked the vote on convention rules.
Protestors set up camp outside the convention and security was ramped up to keep the peace.
Michigan Attorney General takes stage
Attorney General Bill Schuette called attention to Flint's drinking water crisis and law enforcement Monday afternoon at the Republican National Convention.

Speaking for less than three minutes Monday, he told delegates that "justice is coming to Flint."
