Michigan Primary: What to know before you vote

If you're planning on voting in Tuesday's Michigan Presidential Primary, here's a few things to check out before you head to the polls. 

Are you registered?

Check to see if you're registered to vote by going to Michigan.gov/vote. There you'll be able to find out where your polling location is, too. 

When do polls open and close?

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., statewide.

What's on the ballot?

This will depend on which ballot you request. Michigan's Presidential Primary is a "closed" primary. 

When you go to the polls on Election Day or apply for an absentee ballot you must request either a Republican Party or a Democratic Party ballot which will include only the candidates of the party you select.

If a special election is conducted in conjunction with the Presidential Primary, the special election information will appear on both the Republican and Democratic ballots. You will also have the option of selecting a ballot that excludes Presidential Primary information and includes only special election information.
