FBI hunts ISIS doctor from mid-Michigan

FLUSHING, Mich. – The FBI is investigating a young man from the Flint area for supporting ISIS and working as a doctor for the terror group.

Mohamed Maleeh Masha, 24, of Flushing, is at the center of a terror investigation as an alleged ISIS sympathizer. Flushing is northwest of Flint.

The Detroit News found a sealed FBI search warrant posted online showing that agents were tracking Masha from his family’s home in Flushing to Syrai. The warrant was taken down soon after that.

“It’s a rare instance when you learn of an on-going terror investigation before anyone is ever charged,” Detroit News reporter Robert Snell said. “It’s not something that the FBI typically wants to talk about.”

Family members at the home declined to comment.

“If they execute a search warrant at his family’s home in Flushing, Michigan, they may find that his family has known of his ISIS sympathizing,” Local 4 Legal Analyst Neil Rockind said. “They may find that his family is financing his ISIS sympathizing.”

The small town is reeling as the reach of ISIS into the U.S. reaches the heart of Michigan.

“It’s not good,” neighbor Tony Tromblum said. “I don’t know what of it. I’ve had friends who serve in this war and we have to find a way to stop it somehow.”
