Missing Detroit 13-year-old found safe

DETROIT – Detroit police say 13-year-old Mikayla Champion was found safe by Roseville police.

Champion went missing after she was last seen Thursday at around 10 p.m. at W. 7 Mile Road and Telegraph Road at the BP gas station.

She was seen at the gas station with an unknown man (pictured below) that she met online, authorities say. Champion left her home in the 22500 block of Frisbee Street shortly before she was seen at the gas station.

"I can't wrap my mind around it," said family friend William Ervin. "The last time it snowed she was out here making snowmen. From there, to this, I don't know what to think."

"She's a very bright young lady," said Tanisha Williams, Champion's cousin. "We're just hoping for her safe return. She's definitely sweet and quiet, this is something we never expected."
