WARREN, Mich. – A homicide investigation is underway in Warren after a woman was found bludgeoned to death Wednesday morning in an apartment.
The apartment complex is on Schoenher Road, between 13 Mile Road and Masonic Boulevard.
The victim was identified as 62-year-old Dona Lawrence.
Neighbors say they saw a man wearing a red T-shirt and khaki shorts went to the complex and knocked on Lawrence's door calling her name. The neighbors saw her let him into the apartment.
About 30 minutes later, police were on the scene.
Neighbors also said they saw signs of a struggle inside the apartment and it appeared as though she was robbed.
Lawrence was a mother and a grandmother.
“I want to find out who did this,” her daughter, Renee Lawrence, said. “I want to find out why somebody would hurt my mom.”
Police are searching for a stolen blue Daewoo Nubira, license plate DAC 5379.
A source has identified the man named a "person of interest" by police as Anthony Iannotti.
