L. Brooks Patterson: 'We wish the Pistons well. Thanks for all the memories'

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson released a brief statement Tuesday after it was announced the Detroit Pistons would be leaving his county for Downtown Detroit.

The Pistons have called the Palace of Auburn Hills home since 1988.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver thanked the county during the announcement news conference in Detroit. 

"I feel it's important to thank Oakland County for its tremendous support of this team over the past four decades," he said. 

Meanwhile, Wayne County Executive Warren Evans welcomed the team back to Detroit. 

“It’s great to have the Pistons coming back home. It’s another tremendous step forward for Detroit and Wayne County. I commend the Ilitch family and Tom Gores for their commitment and support of this great city, and look forward to having professional basketball downtown again," Evans said in a statement.
