DETROIT – Olympia Development released this progress report Thursday on its Little Caesars World Headquarters Campus Expansion at the District Detroit, where the Little Caesars Arena also is being built.

Construction of the Little Caesars World Headquarters Campus Expansion in The District Detroit kicks into high gear this week as the largest crane in the region begins to lift steel into place on the $150 million, nine-story building.
Expected to be complete in 2018, this is Detroit’s first newly constructed corporate headquarters building in more than a decade and only the seventh since 1950. Construction is being managed by Detroit-based joint venture Brinker-Christman.
Detroit-based Midwest Steel is leading steel construction. In addition to this project, Little Caesars Arena, the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University and several others are underway in The District Detroit.
Little Caesars World Headquarters Campus Headquarters Expansion Construction Update:
- To date, 91% of contracts have been awarded to certified Detroit-based businesses
- The concrete foundation was completed at the end of January (January 24)
- Structural steel placement began this week (January 31)
- The crane used to place steel is a Link-Belt 298 HSL Series rated for up to 230 tons
- The crane has a 160-foot mast and a 100-foot jib
- Crews already completed 56 caissons (foundation piers), each more than 100 feet deep
- The foundations are made up of 3,590 cubic yards of concrete (359 concrete trucks)
- The building will have 1,525 tons of structural steel when steel is complete this summer
- The completed building will also have nearly 67,000 square feet of glass
- In addition to steel erection, underground plumbing is underway

The District Detroit Construction Update:
- More than 1,000 people work daily on various elements of the new Little Caesars Arena including interior and exterior finishing and ice rink installation
- Excavation and foundation work is underway at the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University with steel construction expected to start in March
- Foundation work for new parking space and first-floor retail continues just south of the arena at the new mixed-use building on Henry Street just south of the new Little Caesars Arena
