Livonia police: Woman reports sexual assault in Hines Park

The Livonia Police Department responded to a report of a sexual assault on Sunday evening, which occurred in Edward Hines Park.

Officers encountered a 28-year-old female victim, who had been jogging in the Hines Park bike path.

She told officers that the suspect wrapped his arms around her neck and struck her on the side of her face.

He then struggled with the victim and attempted to drag her toward the Rouge River. He also attempted to remove her clothing and told her that he wanted to have sex with her.

The victim was able to fight off the suspect, fleeing on foot. She was then able to flag down a motorist and used his phone to call 911.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 28-30 years old; 5’10”tall, 180 pounds, muscular build, with short dark hair and clean shaven. He was wearing a tight fitting black or grey compression style shirt and dark colored cargo shorts.
