According to NBC Philadelphia, two men from Michigan have been charged with beating and robbing a comic book store owner.

The incident occurred back on Sept. 18, 2022, at 5 p.m. inside Comic Collection and Records Too, when surveillance video captured Caleb James-Lorenze Simpson, 35, of Clarklake, and Zackery Maximus Tucker, 22, of Quincy, luring Dave Schwartz, 61, up a ladder before knocking him off, beating, bounding, and threatening him with a knife while pretending to be customers.

Once Schwartz fell to the floor, the men zip-tied him and continued to brutally beat him with brass knuckles before holding the knife to his face, threatening to kill him.

Police say the men then grabbed two duffle bags from their bookbag and stole a laptop, the owner’s keys, cash, comic books, Pokémon cards, action figures, and other merchandise from the store.

Officials say a truck driver who heard the two men discussing the incident tipped them off on Dec. 19, 2023.

Police in Michigan collaborated with officials in Pennsylvania to track down the men, and the pair were identified using DNA evidence.

Officials say the 22-year-old man turned himself in in Bucks County on Monday (March 18). The 35-year-old is being held in Michigan while waiting for extradition to Pennsylvania.
