DETROIT – The Tigers’ game against the Minnesota Twins has been postponed on Thursday due to weather in Detroit.
Rain is in the forecast for most of Thursday, so the teams decided to make an early call to postpone the first game of their four-game series.
“Due to the forecast of inclement weather throughout the day, today’s Tigers-Twins game at Comerica Park has been postponed,” the Tigers tweeted.
A straight doubleheader is planned for Saturday, with the first game starting at 1:10 p.m. and the second game starting about 40 minutes after the first game ends.
Fans with tickets to Saturday’s game can now attend both games of the doubleheader. Fans with tickets to Thursday’s game can trade them in for a ticket to the doubleheader or any other game “of similar value” in the next 12 months, excluding next year’s Opening Day.
This is the third postponement for the Tigers this season. Two of the three games against the Mets in New York were washed out, forcing the Tigers to play a doubleheader the day before their home opener.
The forecast for Friday could also create some doubt around Game 2 of the series.
