GROSSE ILE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are investigating a possible sexual assault against a child in Grosse Ile Township.
Officers received the report the night of Saturday, March 21, 2026. It involves a child and happened the evening of Friday, March 20, at a home in Grosse Ile, police said.

Parents and guardians of students were sent the following email on Wednesday, March 25:
Dear High School Families,
We have been made aware by the Grosse Ile Police Department of a serious matter involving allegations of sexual assault within the Grosse Ile community. We recognize that situations like this can be deeply concerning and may have an impact on members of our school community.
The matter under investigation is not reported to have occurred on school grounds or in connection with a school-sponsored activity. While the district is not able to comment on the specifics of this matter and has limited jurisdiction because the alleged action did not take place on school grounds, we want to assure you that we take all concerns involving student welfare seriously and respond in accordance with Board of Education policy, our Student Code of Conduct, and all applicable laws.
We encourage families to have conversations with their children and to reach out if support is needed. Our school-based support team, including counselors, social workers, and administrators, are available to provide care, guidance, and resources to any student who may be affected.
We remain committed to fostering a safe and respectful school community for all students.
Police said they know the name of the suspects, but nobody has been arrested in this case.
“Given the sensitive nature of the case, we are not in a position to release additional details,” police said in an email to Local 4. “Our priority is to conduct a thorough, objective investigation while protecting the integrity of the process and those involved.”
Grosse Ile Township Schools released the following statement Wednesday afternoon to Local 4:
I cannot provide much information because of legal and privacy constraints. However, I am aware that the Grosse Ile Township Police Department provided a press release today that stated the department received a report of sexual assault against a minor. Additionally, the Police Department’s press release stated the report of the assault took place at a residence on Grosse Ile. Therefore, the School District refers all questions regarding the specific facts of this matter to the Police Department, as the report of sexual assault did not take place at school or at a school-related event.
Nonetheless, I can inform you that Grosse Ile Township Schools is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. The district operates under Board of Education policies and a Student Code of Conduct, both of which are publicly available on the Grosse Ile Township Schools website.
The district addresses all reported concerns in accordance with applicable laws, Board policy, and established procedures. This includes coordinating with appropriate authorities when required and implementing measures to ensure student safety while matters are reviewed. If the District did receive a report of sexual assault that took place at school or a school-related event, the District would follow all applicable laws, policies, and procedures, including those related to Title IX. However, as stated above, the District has not received a report of sexual assault at school or at a school-related.
