Michigan State Police have apprehended the suspect accused of the attempted kidnapping of an 8-year-old girl in Brighton Township Wednesday evening.
According to investigators, the girl was riding her bike on Rosemary Lane around 7 p.m. when she was approached by a man wearing an ID badge for a pest control company who appeared to be a traveling door-to-door salesman.
The man, described as white or possibly Hispanic, asked the girl to come into the woods with him where he would give her “a surprise.” The suspect then attempted to lure the girl into a nearby wooded area before the girl’s father confronted him and asked what he was doing.
The suspect then fled the area on a Segway-type vehicle and was last seen near Old US-23 and Alger Drive in Brighton Township until police located and arrested him without incident Thursday afternoon.
