PONTIAC, Mich. – A 52-year-old Oakland County man has pleaded no contest in connection with the murder of a father and the assault of his wife and daughter.
Timothy Ernest Legard entered the plea Friday, June 12, in a case stemming from a September 2024 attack on a neighboring family.

According to authorities, Legard went to his neighbor’s home, stabbed the father to death in the driveway, entered the home as the man’s wife and daughter were getting ready for school, and assaulted them both.
The two escaped the home and called 911 from a neighbor’s house. Police found the father’s body in the driveway, and Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies took Legard into custody.

Legard was initially charged with first-degree murder, second-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of kidnapping, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of assault with intent to commit penetration, and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
On Friday, June 12, Legard pleaded no contest to the murder, kidnapping and assault charges. The six sexual assault charges were dismissed as part of the plea.
He remains lodged at the Oakland County Jail with no bond.
