GROSSE POINTE SHORES, Mich. – Two people in a stolen U-Haul truck were arrested after a violent police chase early Wednesday morning that started in northern Macomb County and ended in Grosse Pointe Shores.
Michigan State Police said a trooper tried to stop the truck for a traffic violation around 2 a.m. at 23 Mile an Interstate 94, but it took off.
The truck went down I-94 and onto Lakeshore Road, where it finally stopped on a lawn because the tires had been blown out by police stop sticks. The lawn is part of property that is owned by a Ford family member.
Police said two troopers and a Macomb County deputy suffered minor injuries when the truck hit their patrol cars during the chase.
“All three officers are OK. They were taken to a local hospital, treated and released,” said Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw.
Police said the U-Haul was empty.
No other details on the two men who were taken into custody were immediately released.
