Man charged with assault in Amtrak stabbing

Michael Williams charged with 4 counts of assault with intent to murder

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – Michael Williams, a 44-year-old man from Saginaw, has been charged with four counts of assault with intent to murder after he was arrested in connection to the stabbings on board an Amtrak train headed to Port Huron on Friday.

Police say Williams stabbed multiple people on the train at the Niles train station on Train 364. Four people were stabbed in the incident, according to NBC's WNDU.

"Train 364 is the Blue Water service that travels daily between Chicago and Port Huron," Amtrak officials said in a statement. "The train was heading to Port Huron at time of incident."

Passengers on the train were moved to their destinations via alternate forms of transportation.
