Man shot, killed outside Tim Hortons in Van Buren Township; Suspect in custody

Victim identified as Edward Kuehn, 38

BELLEVILLE, Mich. – A man was shot and killed Sunday morning in an altercation outside Tim Hortons at I-94 and Rawsonville Road in Van Buren Township, police said.

Police told Shawn Ley that the victim arrived around 6 a.m., purchased a coffee and returned to his car where he was shot and killed. 

Officials said a witness, later identified as the suspect's wife, called them and reported there was a victim in the parking lot and that the gunman had gone into the woods in the back of her home.

Officers identified the suspect as a 45-year-old Van Buren Township resident, contacted him and talked him out of the woods.

Officials said the victim, Edward Kuehn, 38, was a friend of the suspect and his wife.

It is the first homicide in the township in about two years.
