Detroit police are investigating a robbery attempt which resulted in a shooting at an ATM near Puritan street and Livernois avenue.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m.
Police said a 56-year-old man was standing at an ATM located at a Chase bank when he was approached by another man who was holding a gun.
The suspect demanded that man withdraw money, but the victim, who is a CPL holder, took out his own gun.
The suspect fired shots, hitting the victim who also fired at least four shots toward the suspect.
The condition of the victim is unknown but police say he is expected to survive.
Police say they are unsure whether the robber, who remains at large, was wounded in the shootout with the victim.
