DETROIT – Detroit police said a woman who was attempting to pick up a group of friends before a church service was robbed around 8 a.m., Sunday.
Police said the woman was in her vehicle awaiting her friends near the 1500 block of Cherboneau place when a man approached her and said, “Give me your purse or I’ll shoot.”
The victim handed over her purse which contained her ID, cellphone, cash, house keys and a firearm.
The thief took the woman’s belongings and fled the scene.
Police said that even though a weapon was not seen, the man implied he had one, making the crime to be considered an armed robbery.
Sources close to the investigation said the victim is a Third Circuit Court judge in the city of Detroit.
The suspect is described to be a black man with a medium complexion, 35-40 years old, about 6 feet and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white jacket, dark pants and dark shoes.
