He was well-known in the area for more than 30 years.

"Fred believed in this community. He was the lifeblood of this community," said Auday Arabo.

Dozens of people gathered outside the store Wednesday for a news conference with police.

"The people of Detroit are sick and tired of good people getting killed with these senseless violent acts," Arabo said. "If someone like Fred who believes and stays here is shot down, then who's safe?"

Dally was the former chairman of the Associated Food and Petroleum Dealers, an organization representing 4,000 party store and gas station owners in Michigan and surrounding states.

The organization is offering a $50,000 reward in the case.

Detroit police also think someone saw something that could help close the case.

"This community knows. And I'm imploring them to provide the information necessary to bring these individuals to justice," said Detroit police Inspector Dwane Blackmon.

Tips can be left at Detroit police's homicide unit at 313-596-2260.
