DETROIT – The United States Postal Inspection Service is partnering with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office to host a free document shredding event Wednesday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residential customers may bring up to four boxes of personal identification information to West Hancock Street adjacent to the Wayne County Sheriff's headquarters, located at 4747 Woodward Avenue in Detroit, to be shredded at no cost.

Only paper will be accepted. Metal, plastic or other objects mixed in will not be accepted. Mail or documents from businesses will not be accepted.
Customers who wish to drop off their documents for shredding should have their paper items stored in boxes or containers and be ready for quick drive-up and drop-off.
The event marks the 15th annual National Consumer Protection Week.
