There are no reported injuries and a crew was on the scene within a few minutes to evaluate the situation and to assess the needed repairs.

The area around the clock has been secured and a contractor was on site to remove the hour hand, which remained on the clock after the minute hand fell.

The clock faces are about 9 feet 6 inches in diameter. The minute hand which fell off measured around 5 feet long.

The tower was constructed in 2014. It was a gift from long-time Oakland University supporters Hugh and Nancy Elliott.
