VIDEO: ICE illegally enters Oregon home and detains man by mistake, worker says

An Oregon man claims Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents illegally entered a home he was working on and detained his co-worker Thursday. The incident was captured on cellphone video.

George Cardenas was working on a home in Portland when three men and a woman identifying themselves as federal agents entered. Cardenas began recording as the agents placed his co-worker, later identified as 32-year-old Carlos Bolanos, under arrest.

The 8-minute video posted to Facebook shows the plain-clothed agents asking Bolanos for identification, saying they have reason to believe he is not in the country legally. Cardenas asks the agents if they have a warrant to enter the home. One of the agents responds that they don't need a warrant.

At one point, Cardenas says, "There's a law that says you can't come into private property. Did you know that?"

One of the agents responds, "That is correct. You are right."

Cardenas says, "Alright, and you guys are breaking the law right now."

The agent snickers and walks away for a moment.

Eventually, the agents surround Bolanos and place him in handcuffs. He is then led out of the house and placed into a white unmarked vehicle.

According to KGW, Bolanos was released hours later.

Cardenas says the agents entered the home without a warrant and never gave a reason as to why the father of four was arrested. He says they just told him to leave and that it was a "mistake."

ICE released a statement about the arrest calling it a mistake and saying the incident is under investigation.

Oregon lawmakers Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici have sent a letter to ICE asking why agents didn't identify themselves to the man.
