DETROIT – Detroit police have released new evidence in the search for the person who shot and killed Wayne State University police Sgt. Collin Rose.
On Tuesday, police released images of a flashlight and a bicycle they believe were used by the shooter.
Detroit police released the following statement:
"The Detroit Police are looking for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the subject
responsible for the fatal shooting of Wayne State University Police Sergeant Collin Rose on Nov. 22 at
approximately 6:30 p.m. on Lincoln St near Selden St. Officer Rose was shot and killed when he stopped
to investigate a man who was riding a blue mountain bike."
Rose was shot while investigating car break-ins in Detroit's Woodbridge neighborhood. Rose died days later in the hospital.
Rose was 29 years old and a graduate of Ferris State University. He was engaged to be married next October.
What happened
Rose was shot in the head Nov. 22 while stopping a man on a bicycle off campus near the corner of Lincoln and Brainard streets in Detroit, police said.
"We have an officer who's been shot," Detroit Assistant Police Chief Steve Dolunt said. "He was doing the stop of an individual on a bicycle. He was shot once in the head."
