MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 33-year-old woman died Wednesday night when she was hit by a car on 21 Mile Road.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said Farai Gonzalez, of Detroit, ran out of gas on the mile road near North Avenue. A deputy helped her to a nearby Mobil gas station.
A short time later, it was reported that Gonzalez had been hit while leaving the gas station on foot.
Gonzalez was taken to McLaren-Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens, where she was pronounced dead.
Deputies said it was determined that Gonzalez was first struck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound on 21 Mile Road. As she lay in the roadway, a second vehicle (traveling eastbound) also struck her.
Both of the drivers stopped and remained on the scene after the crash.
