"There were two vehicles that were involved in some type of incident with each other. There were shots exchanged between the two parties," MSP Lt. Mike Shaw said.

Two people in one of the cars were struck by the bullets. The car crashed into a home.

Alfred Wayne Austin, 29, was killed. Family members said he leaves behind four children.

"He took care of his family. He tried to stay out of the way of these crazy streets. Unfortunately, the streets, obviously, got the best of him," said Austin's cousin, Nikki.

Shaw said a second man that was wounded ran from the scene but was found by a deputy and taken to the hospital. He's in good condition.

Police said they don't believe the shooting was random.

Anyone with information on the shooting can call 800-MICH-TIP.
