DETROIT – Police have taken into custody the 14-year-old who allegedly shot his mother.
The shooting took place in the 15400 block of Wisconsin Street in Detroit about 8 p.m. Thursday. The suspect was arrested near the intersection of Meyers and Fenkell in northwest Detroit about 10 a.m. Friday. He was taken to a juvenile detention facility.

Police said the mother had disciplined the teen and he reacted by shooting her.
The mother was taken to a local hospital and remains in serious condition. Family members tell Local 4 she is recovering but may require surgery.
Authorities said the teen was on the loose overnight as police were searching for him.
A 16-year-old friend of the suspect was also detained for questioning, but police say he is not being cooperative and is considered a "person of interest" in the case.
